DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY AND AREA
Welcome to de Anza Country Club
The de Anza Golf Course was designed in 1956 by famed course architect Lawrence Hughes. It is a challenging but fun 6,778-yard par 72 layout and is perfect for golfers of all levels. The first nine holes were built in 1958. The second nine and clubhouse were completed the following year. The American and English Ryder Cup teams were attracted to the course and played their Pro-Am event here in November 1959.
De Anza Country Club has undergone extensive renovations and remodeling through the years. In 1985, a one million dollar renovation to the clubhouse took place, enlarging the dining area and kitchen, adding the garden room and a women’s locker room. The Pro Shop was re-located to a new building and a new cart barn built. In 1994, the 15th hole was remodeled from tee–to-green by golf course architect Fred Bliss to add interest and excitement to the back nine. On the front nine, a lake was added to hole #3 and was voted “best hole on the course” by de Anza members.
Remodeling of the Coyote Den occurred in 1995 with the Big Horn Grill following in 1996. In 1998, both the dining room and women’s locker room were remodeled.
Remodeling of the 13th hole rounded out 1998’s activities. The men’s locker room was remodeled and enlarged in 2002.
De Anza has developed into a place of unique beauty. The championship golf course, its lakes, palms, and stately trees blend easily with golden sunshine and brilliant blue sky. It lies nestled between the Santa Rosa and San Ysidro Mountain ranges and is surrounded by the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, citrus and palm groves. The state park further enhances the area with many hiking and exploring opportunities. It is truly a “Paradise in the Desert.”
